Hadith Commentary:
➊
From these hadiths, it is understood that after the conquest of Khaybar, the Muslims experienced financial ease, and the land of Khaybar was very famous for its production of dates. From there, this fruit began to arrive in abundance, so the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) were able to eat to their fill.
Before this, their livelihood and economic condition were very weak.
Aishah (radi Allahu anha) states that for two or three consecutive months, no fire would be lit in the houses of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam); they would subsist only on dates and water.
(Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Riqaq, Hadith: 6459.
)
In another narration, it is mentioned that after coming to Madinah, the family of Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) never filled their stomachs with wheat bread; three days would pass in this very state.
(Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Riqaq, Hadith: 6454.
)
➋
In any case, when Khaybar was conquered, the economic condition improved, and there was abundance of wheat, barley, dates, and so on.
And Allah knows best.
