Narrated Al-Bara: Do you (people) consider the conquest of Mecca, the Victory (referred to in the Qur'an 48:1). Was the conquest of Mecca a victory? We really consider that the actual Victory was the Ar-Ridwan Pledge of allegiance which we gave on the day of Al-Hudaibiya (to the Prophet) . On the day of Al-Hudaibiya we were fourteen hundred men along with the Prophet Al-Hudaibiya was a well, the water of which we used up leaving not a single drop of water in it. When the Prophet was informed of that, he came and sat on its edge. Then he asked for a utensil of water, performed ablution from it, rinsed (his mouth), invoked (Allah), and poured the remaining water into the well. We stayed there for a while and then the well brought forth what we required of water for ourselves and our riding animals.

Hadith Commentary:
The narrator is uncertain whether he said "our mounts turned" or "our mounts were made to turn"; the meaning of both is the same.
This too was a miracle of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
For this reason, it has been mentioned under this chapter.

Hadith Commentary:
➊
In this hadith, the number of people is mentioned as fourteen hundred, whereas Hazrat Jabir (radi Allahu anhu) has reported their number as fifteen hundred.
There is no contradiction between these, because one number does not negate the other.
➋
In this hadith as well, a tremendous miracle is described: by the Prophet’s (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) rinsing his mouth, the well gushed forth like a spring and became filled with water.
Numerous miracles regarding the increase of water have been mentioned in the books of hadith.
The greatest miracle is as follows:
Hazrat Jabir (radi Allahu anhu) says that during a journey, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) ordered me to bring water for ablution (wudu).
I searched for water but did not find any.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Inquire from such-and-such Ansari.”
...
He used to arrange cool water for you.
I went to him, and there was a single drop of water clinging to the mouth of his water-skin.
If I had tried to take it, even that would have dried up.
Nevertheless, I presented that drop before the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
He took it, recited something, and rubbed it on his palm, then told me to bring a large vessel.
I brought a vessel, and he placed his hands in it.
Water began to flow from them, and he said to me:
“O Jabir (radi Allahu anhu)! Say ‘Bismillah’ and pour it over my hands.”
I did so, and water began to flow from between his fingers, until the vessel was filled and water was swirling within it.
He ordered me:
“O Jabir (radi Allahu anhu)! Announce among the people that whoever needs water should fulfill his need.”
Thus, all the people drank to their fill.
When the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) removed his hands from it, the vessel was full of water.
(Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Zuhd wa al-Raqa’iq, Hadith: 7519(3013))
Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) writes:
This incident is more wondrous than the other incidents of the increase of water, because it describes the extreme scarcity of water and the abundance of those who benefited from it.
And Allah knows best.
