Hadith Commentary:

The Battle of Banu Anmar, the Battle of Banu Muharib and Tha’labah, and the Battle of Dhat al-Riqa‘ are multiple names for the same battle.

The reason for the Battle of Dhat al-Riqa‘ is that a Bedouin brought some goods to Madinah Tayyibah and said:
“I have seen the people of Banu Tha’labah and Banu Anmar preparing to attack you, while you are unaware of them.”
Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) took four hundred mujahideen with him and set out to suppress them.
According to another narration, the number of mujahideen was seven hundred.

From this narration, it is also evident that the Battle of Banu Anmar is the same as the Battle of Muharib and Tha’labah, and the Battle of Muharib and Tha’labah is in fact the Battle of Dhat al-Riqa‘.
(Fath al-Bari: 7/530. )

The intent of Imam Malik (rahimahullah) in his statement is that he has heard multiple narrations regarding the Prayer of Fear (salat al-khawf), in which different modalities have been described, but in terms of practice, he found the method mentioned in the present hadith to be preferable and has adopted it.
