Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Dawood Raz
Hadith Commentary:
These are the blessed words that were uttered by the tongue of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) as an expression of gratitude upon the conclusion of the Battle of Ahzab.
On this occasion, the disbelievers of Arabia had formed a united front and attacked Madinah, but Allah the Exalted thwarted their evil intentions and saved the Muslims from them by a narrow margin.
Now, reciting and memorizing these words as a remembrance brings countless blessings and goodness.
Especially at the sites of Hajj, uttering these words brings great reward and merit to every pilgrim.
May Allah the Exalted protect every Muslim from evil in this world.
Ameen.

Hadith Commentary:
Allah Ta'ala granted dominance to the Muslims and bestowed upon them victory and success.
He subdued the army of the disbelievers who had attacked Madinah Tayyibah, in opposition to the Muslims.
Only Allah Ta'ala is everlasting; everything else is subject to annihilation, as stated in the noble verse:
"Everything will perish except His Face (i.e., His Self)." () ()

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: In this supplication, there is an allusion to the Battle of Ahzab, and the meaning of "la shay'a ba'dahu" is that everything besides Him is perishable. No one's existence or permanence is intrinsic; only Allah's existence is His own, which is not subject to annihilation. All other creation has received existence from Him, and it remains only by His sustaining it.
