Hadith 4107

حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا , قَالَ : " أَوَّلُ يَوْمٍ شَهِدْتُهُ يَوْمُ الْخَنْدَقِ " .
Narrated Ibn `Umar: The first day (i.e. Ghazwa) I participated in, was the day of Al-Khandaq (i.e. Trench).

Hadith Commentary:
Previously, Ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) himself stated:
I presented myself for enlistment before the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) on the day of the Battle of Uhud, but he did not grant me permission.
At that time, I was fourteen years old, and when I enlisted at the time of the Battle of Khandaq, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) allowed me to participate, and at that time I was fifteen years old.
