Hadith 3994

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ ،أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى ، سَمِعَ مُعَاذَ بْنَ رِفَاعَةَ ، أَنَّ مَلَكًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ , وَعَنْ يَحْيَى ، أَنَّ يَزِيدَ بْنَ الْهَادِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَهُ يَوْمَ حَدَّثَهُ مُعَاذٌ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ، فَقَالَ يَزِيدُ : فَقَالَ مُعَاذٌ : " إِنَّ السَّائِلَ هُوَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام " .
Narrated Mu`adh: The one who asked (the Prophet) was Gabriel (refer to Hadith 5.327).

Hadith Commentary:
That is, as mentioned above, Hazrat Rafi‘ radi Allahu anhu considered participation in the Pledge of ‘Aqabah to be superior to participation in Badr. This is because the Pledge of ‘Aqabah itself became the cause of the Prophet’s sallallahu alayhi wa sallam success and migration, thus it was established as the very foundation of Islam.

Hadith Commentary:
1.
The summary of this narration is that Yazid bin Hād informed Yahya that on the day Mu'adh narrated the hadith to you, I was also with you.
Yazid also stated that Mu'adh had mentioned the name of the questioner, but Yahya forgot and could not remember it.
He was Jibril (alayhis salam).
2.
The question that was asked has already been mentioned in Hadith 3992.
