Hadith 3924

Narrated Al-Bara: The first people who came to us (in Medina) were Mus`ab bin `Umar and Ibn Um Maktum. Then came to us `Ammar bin Yasir and Bilal.

Hadith Commentary:
Musa bin Uqbah has mentioned that the very first to arrive in Madinah Tayyibah was Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Asad (radi Allahu anhu), whereas in this hadith, it is mentioned that Mus'ab bin Umayr (radi Allahu anhu) was the first to arrive. In reality, Abu Salamah (radi Allahu anhu) did not leave Makkah Mukarramah for the purpose of settling in Madinah Tayyibah, but rather fled out of fear of the polytheists, whereas Mus'ab bin Umayr (radi Allahu anhu) came with the intention of settling and to teach the people of Madinah their religion.
Each of them has a different aspect of being the first.
