Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, "I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.' And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally and their reckoning will be with Allah."

Hadith Commentary:
➊
In the previous narration, it was stated that whoever fulfills three things, the covenant of Allah and His Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is established with him.
In this narration, the addition of the declaration of the pure word (kalimah tayyibah) is present, and there is also an explanation and clarification of that covenant which was established in the previous hadith: that to unjustly pursue such a person's wealth or life is to interfere in the covenant (dhimmah) of Allah and His Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
However, if such a person is liable for compensation (diyah) or retribution (qisas) regarding wealth or life, then it must certainly be taken from him, and doing so will not be against the covenant or the pledge.
➋
In this narration, Humayd at-Tawil narrates from Anas (radi Allahu anhu) with the wording "an" (from).
When "an'anah" (the use of "an" in the chain) occurs in the chain, it creates ambiguity.
Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) then brings another chain to remove this ambiguity, because in that chain there is explicit mention of "haddathana" (he narrated to us). In fact, in the next narration, it is further clarified that indeed Humayd at-Tawil narrated this hadith directly from Anas (radi Allahu anhu), because in his presence, Maymun ibn Siyah asked Anas (radi Allahu anhu), and thus it is narrated.
