Hadith Commentary: The statement of Umar radi Allahu anhu, that neither will we receive reward for them nor will we be punished because of them, reflects his immense fear of Allah and his caution. What he meant was that after the passing of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, we cannot place full reliance on the good deeds we have performed—whether they have been accepted in the Divine Court or not, whether our intentions in them were pure or not. Thus, we consider it a blessing if we at least receive the reward for the deeds we performed alongside the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam; those deeds alone are sufficient for salvation. As for the deeds after him, if we are not rewarded for them, even then it is a blessing if we are not punished for them.
Because the station of fear is higher than the station of hope. The meaning is that in this regard, Umar radi Allahu anhu was superior to Abu Musa radi Allahu anhu; otherwise, the absolute superiority of Umar radi Allahu anhu over Abu Musa radi Allahu anhu is established by consensus.
Hafiz (rahimahullah) has said: Sometimes, in a particular matter, the less virtuous (mafzul) can be superior to the more virtuous (fadil), and from this, absolute superiority does not necessarily follow. And this statement of Umar radi Allahu anhu was out of humility, self-effacement, and fear of Allah; otherwise, each and every deed, each and every act of justice and fairness of his, is far greater than all the good deeds of our entire lives.
The reality is that if any fair-minded person, regardless of their religion, were to study the biography of Umar radi Allahu anhu, he would undoubtedly come to know that the world has rarely produced such a son.
And among the Muslims, after the passing of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam until today, there has not arisen such a wise, organized, just, God-fearing, God-conscious, and compassionate ruler over his subjects.
It is unknown where the intellect of the Rawafid (Rafidis) has gone, that they malign such a precious gem, whose very being is the honor of Islam and the Muslims.
Allah knows best; the consequences of this will become clear to them as soon as they die.

Hadith Commentary:
In one narration, Abu Burdah radi Allahu anhu states that once I performed prayer beside Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhu. I heard him say:
Since I became Muslim, for every prayer I have performed, I wish that it would become an expiation for my sins.
(al-Mustadrak ‘ala al-Sahihayn: 2/442, Dar al-Kutub al-‘Ilmiyyah edition)
After this, he narrated the aforementioned incident.
In this stance as well, the virtue of Umar radi Allahu anhu is established, because the station of fear is, in any case, higher and more virtuous than the station of hope.
This statement of Umar radi Allahu anhu was due to humility, self-effacement, and fear of Allah, otherwise, each and every deed of his, and each and every act of justice and fairness, outweighs all our good deeds throughout our entire lives.
Since the passing of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam until today, no such prudent, organized, just, truth-loving, and caring ruler over his subjects has ever been born.
