Hadith 3844

Narrated Ghailan bin Jarir: We used to visit Anas bin Malik and he used to talk to us about the Ansar, and used to say to me: "Your people did so-and-so on such-and-such a day, and your people did so-and-so on such-and-such a day."

Hadith Commentary:
In all these narrations, one aspect or another sheds light on the conditions of the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah). Since the absolute mujtahid, Imam al-Bukhari rahimahullah, is describing the era of Jahiliyyah, he has therefore brought all these ahadith here.
These conditions are mostly related to economic, financial, political, moral, and religious circumstances, in which both good and bad aspects have been mentioned. Islam eradicated the evils of the people of Jahiliyyah and adopted those virtues that existed among them.
This is because all those virtues were derived from the guidance of Ibrahim alayhis salam and Isma'il alayhis salam.
Therefore, Islam preserved them, and the rest of the Ummah was encouraged towards them. One such matter is that of Qasamah, which was prevalent in the era of Jahiliyyah and which Islam retained; it will be mentioned ahead.

Hadith Commentary:

Anas bin Malik (radi Allahu anhu) used to narrate the achievements of the Ansar. These accounts included incidents from the time of ignorance (Jahiliyyah) as well as mentions of their Islamic accomplishments.

In all the narrations presented by Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah), in one way or another, aspects of the conditions of the era of ignorance (Jahiliyyah) are illuminated. These conditions are mostly related to economic, financial, political, ethical, and religious circumstances, in which both good and bad situations are mentioned. Islam abolished the era of ignorance, and whatever virtues existed were preserved, because those virtues were derived from the guidance of Ibrahim (alayhis salam) and Isma'il (alayhis salam).
