Narrated Abu Burda: When I came to Medina. I met `Abdullah bin Salam. He said, "Will you come to me so that I may serve you with Sawiq (i.e. powdered barley) and dates, and let you enter a (blessed) house that in which the Prophet entered?" Then he added, "You are In a country where the practice of Riba (i.e. usury) is prevalent; so if somebody owe you something and he sends you a present of a load of chopped straw or a load of barley or a load of provender then do not take it, as it is Riba."

Hadith Commentary:
➊
In one narration, Abdullah bin Salam (radi Allahu anhu) said:
"Come with me to my house; I will offer you a drink in a bowl from which the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) drank water, and we will pray in a mosque in which the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) prayed." Thus, Abu Burdah (radi Allahu anhu) went, drank sattu (barley drink) from that bowl, and prayed in that mosque which was blessed due to the prayers of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Al-I'tisam bil-Kitab wa al-Sunnah, Hadith 7342.)
➋
When a debtor sends a gift to the creditor without any condition from the creditor, then although there is no harm in accepting it, the demand of piety (taqwa) is that he should not accept it either.
➌
In this hadith, the virtue of Abdullah bin Salam (radi Allahu anhu) is that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) stayed in his house, and secondly, that he forbade the creditor from accepting a gift; this is a matter of piety (taqwa) and scrupulousness (wara‘).
➍
By "Ard" is meant the land of Iraq.
