Allah said: "Those who had settled in the home (i.e., Madinah) and had adopted the faith before them, love those who emigrate to them, and they do not find in their hearts any need for what is given to the emigrants (from the spoils), but rather they are pleased with it."

Narrated Ghailan bin Jarir: I asked Anas, "Tell me about the name 'Al-Ansar.; Did you call yourselves by it or did Allah call you by it?" He said, "Allah called us by it." We used to visit Anas (at Basra) and he used to narrate to us the virtues and deeds of the Ansar, and he used to address me or a person from the tribe of Al-Azd and say, "Your tribe did so-and-so on such-and-such a day."

Hadith Footnote:
The detail regarding the doubt is from the narrator.
Of these two statements, which one Ghailan actually said—whether he mentioned his own name or, by way of allusion, used the phrase "a man from the tribe of Azd"—is uncertain. In reality, both refer to himself, as he was indeed an individual from the tribe of Azd.

Hadith Commentary:
The detail regarding doubt is from the narrator, as to which of the two phrases was actually used—whether he mentioned his own name or, by way of allusion, referred to a person from the tribe of Azd.
In reality, both refer to his own self.
He himself was an individual from the tribe of Azd, and the tribe of Azd includes everyone. Thus, in one narration, it is explicitly stated that Anas (radi Allahu anhu) would address Ghaylan and recount the incidents of the Ansar.
