Hadith 3750

Narrated `Uqba bin Al-Harith: I saw Abu Bakr carrying Al-Hasan and saying, "Let my father be sacrificed for you; you resemble the Prophet and not `Ali," while `Ali was laughing at this.

Hadith Commentary:
According to the narration of Musnad Ahmad, Fatimah radi Allahu anha also expressed similar sentiments regarding her beloved son Hasan radi Allahu anhu.
( : Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi, al-Manaqib, Hadith: 3782)
In the narration of Bint Sirin, it is mentioned that Hasan radi Allahu anhu bore a great resemblance to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
( : Musnad Ahmad 8/1, No. 40; Fath al-Bari: 7/122)
There appears to be an apparent contradiction in these ahadith, which can be resolved through a detailed narration: Hasan radi Allahu anhu resembled the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam from his blessed head to his blessed chest, and Husayn radi Allahu anhu resembled the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in the lower part of his body.
( : Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3778)
Besides these princes, there were many other people who resembled the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in appearance and form.
Their details have been recorded by Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah.
( : Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi, al-Manaqib, Hadith: 3779)
