Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Musailama-al-Kadhdhab (i.e. the liar) came in the life-time of Allah's Apostle with many of his people (to Medina) and said, "If Muhammad makes me his successor, I will follow him." Allah's Apostle went up to him with Thabit bin Qais bin Shams; and Allah's Apostle was carrying a piece of a datepalm leaf in his hand. He stood before Musailama (and his companions) and said, "If you asked me even this piece (of a leaf), I would not give it to you. You cannot avoid the fate you are destined to, by Allah. If you reject Islam, Allah will destroy you. I think that you are most probably the same person whom I have seen in the dream."

Hadith Commentary:
➊
Musaylimah the Liar was a man of the type who practiced trickery and deception.
He was killed by Hazrat Wahshi (radi Allahu anhu) during the caliphate of Siddiq (Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu).
He (Wahshi) used to say: In the time of disbelief, I killed the best of the Muslims, Hazrat Hamzah (radi Allahu anhu), and in the time of Islam, I sent the worst of the disbelievers, Musaylimah the Liar, to Hell.
Similarly, Aswad Ansi was killed by Fayruz Daylami (radi Allahu anhu) in Sana’a.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) informed his noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) of his (Aswad Ansi’s) death.
➋
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) informed that after him, two great liars would appear who would claim prophethood.
According to his information, their appearance did occur; by their “emergence” is meant their prominence and their claim to prophethood.
➌
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) saw golden bangles in his hands.
The reference to gold is an allusion to their deceitfulness, because another name for gold is “zukhruf,” which also means embellishment and deception.
➍
The two bangles represented the two great liars; their being blown away by a puff (in the vision) is an allusion to the swiftness of their destruction—that these people would be destroyed very easily.
And Allah knows best.
