«وَلَيَأْتِيَنَّ عَلَى أَحَدِكُمْ زَمَانٌ لأَنْ يَرَانِي أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أَهْلِهِ وَمَالِهِ».
A time will come when any of you will love to see me rather than to have his family and property doubled."

Hadith Commentary:
In this hadith, there are four prophecies, and all four have been fulfilled.
Among the devoted Companions (radi Allahu anhum) and Followers (tabi‘in), and even among those who came after them up to our own time, there have been some who would sacrifice all their wealth and children for just one glimpse of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
What is wealth and property in comparison?
They have always considered it an honor and a means of success in both worlds to sacrifice their lives—indeed, thousands of lives—for the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). As the poet says:
“Name your price for both worlds, for you yourself have set their value;
Raise the price, for they are still too cheap.” (Wahidi)
