حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ صَبَّاحٍ الْبَّزَّارُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يُحَدِّثُ حَدِيثًا لَوْ عَدَّهُ الْعَادُّ لَأَحْصَاهُ " ،
Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet used to talk so clearly that if somebody wanted to count the number of his words, he could do so.

Hadith Commentary:
In this hadith, the manner of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) in speaking has been described: he would speak with utmost seriousness and deliberation.
He was not eloquent in the manner of common people.
The purpose is that a person, when speaking, should adopt such a style that the listener may understand well.
Further clarification of this is found in the next hadith.
