Hadith Commentary:
Journeys such as Hajj and others can also be analogized to the journey of jihad.
Upon returning safely from such a long journey, it is a Sunnah practice to offer two units (rak‘ah) of voluntary (nafl) prayer as an expression of gratitude. May Allah grant every Muslim this opportunity, ameen.

Hadith Commentary:
1.
Whether the journey is for jihad, Hajj and Umrah, or any other purpose, it is a Sunnah practice to offer two units (rak‘ahs) of prayer as gratitude upon returning home safely.
The objective is that the conclusion of the journey should be associated with the mosque.

2.
It is also understood from this that when esteemed elders return from a journey, they should first sit in the mosque so that devotees and dignitaries may come to greet them with salutations.
