Hadith 3047

Narrated Abu Juhaifa: I asked `Ali, "Do you have the knowledge of any Divine Inspiration besides what is in Allah's Book?" `Ali replied, "No, by Him Who splits the grain of corn and creates the soul. I don't think we have such knowledge, but we have the ability of understanding which Allah may endow a person with, so that he may understand the Qur'an, and we have what is written in this paper as well." I asked, "What is written in this paper?" He replied, "(The regulations of) blood-money, the freeing of captives, and the judgment that no Muslim should be killed for killing an infidel."

Hadith Commentary:
This refutes those Shia people who say, God forbid, that there were many other verses of the Qur’an which the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not disclose, but rather informed only Ali (radi Allahu anhu) and his family (Ahl al-Bayt). This is an outright lie.
When the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was alone and helpless among the polytheists, he did not conceal anything; he conveyed Allah’s message fearlessly and openly, even though it contained explicit condemnation of the polytheists and their deities.
Then, when hundreds of devoted and self-sacrificing Companions were present, and he had nothing to fear from anyone, how could he possibly have concealed Allah’s message?
As for those narrations which the Shia transmit in their books from the Ahl al-Bayt (alayhim as-salam), most of them are lies, false, and fabricated.
The translation of the chapter is derived from the phrase “wala yuqatalu Muslimun bi-Kafir” (A Muslim is not killed in retaliation for a disbeliever).
Qastallani said: The majority of scholars and the Ahl al-Hadith hold the view that a Muslim is not to be killed in retaliation for a disbeliever, and this is established by authentic hadith. However, Imam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) gave a fatwa, based on a weak narration which was reported by Daraqutni (rahimahullah), that a Muslim should be killed in retaliation for a dhimmi disbeliever.

Hadith Commentary:

The Shia claim that Ali (radi Allahu anhu) was the "Wasi (legatee) of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)."
This hadith refutes their claim, because his own statement is that in this document there are rulings regarding blood money (diyah) and the release of captives; if he were the legatee (wasi), then the matter of bequest (wasiyyah) would also have been mentioned in it.
In fact, their assertion is also a lie that there are many Qur’anic verses which the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not inform the general people about, but only disclosed to Ali (radi Allahu anhu) and the Ahl al-Bayt.
May Allah protect us.

This claim is also refuted from the narration of Aisha (radi Allahu anha).
Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has established the ruling of the release of captives from this hadith.
