Hadith Commentary:
In all of these narrations, there is mention in one way or another of the banner (standard) of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
It is for this reason that the Imam (rahimahullah) has brought these narrations here.
Many other rulings are also established from these narrations, which the Imam (rahimahullah) has explained as appropriate in their respective places.
Rahimahullah.

Hadith Commentary:
➊
The aforementioned narration of Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) will be explained in detail in the Book of Expeditions (Kitab al-Maghazi, 4280). Nafi‘ ibn Jubayr (radi Allahu anhu) heard this matter during one of the Hajj seasons after the Conquest of Makkah, when people had gathered during the caliphate of either ‘Umar (radi Allahu anhu) or ‘Uthman (radi Allahu anhu).
➋
It should be noted that the flag was planted at the place called Hajun, which is the name of a high mountain near Makkah.
Imam al-Bukhari (rahimahullah) has established the chapter heading for this hadith in these words:
(Ayna raka za al-nabiyyu sallallahu alayhi wa sallam al-rayata yawma al-fath)
“Where did the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) plant the flag on the day of the Conquest (of Makkah)?” (Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Maghazi: Chapter 49)
