Hadith 2929

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "The Hour will not be established till you fight with people wearing shoes made of hair. And the Hour will not be established till you fight with people whose faces look like shields coated with leather. " (Abu Huraira added, "They will be) small-eyed, flat nosed, and their faces will look like shields coated with leather.")

Hadith Commentary:
In this hadith as well, the mention is of the Turkic people, and this refers to the period before their acceptance of Islam.
It is said that in the world there are three nations whose entire populations, in particular, accepted Islam: the Arabs, the Turks, and the Afghans.
When these nations entered into Islam, it was as if the entire face of the earth had become Muslim.

Chapter: After defeat, the Imam dismounting from his ride and forming the remaining people into ranks and seeking help from Allah.

Hadith Commentary:

The meaning of the comparison to a broad shield is that their faces will be round, thick, and fleshy.

The attributes mentioned in the hadith are applicable to the Turks, who, until the era of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and the Rightly Guided Caliphs (radi Allahu anhum), were disbelievers.

In the narration of Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi, it is stated:
“The Dajjal will emerge from the East, from Khurasan. His followers will be people with broad faces, as if their faces are strong, broad shields.” (Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi, Al-Fitan, Hadith 2237)

From this, it is understood that the Turks will repeatedly wage wars against the Muslims.

And Allah knows best.
