Shaykh Abdul Sattar al-Hammad
Hadith Commentary:
1.
Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has, in the context of necessity, mentioned four narrations regarding the wearing of silk garments, all of which are narrated from Anas radi Allahu anhu. In one narration, lice are mentioned, while in another, the excuse of itching is stated.
The way to reconcile these is that first lice may have appeared, and then an attack of itching occurred.
It is said that silk garments kill lice and also eliminate itching.
In one narration, it is mentioned that Anas radi Allahu anhu saw both of these elders wearing silk garments during battle; from this, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has substantiated the title he established.
2.
Furthermore, if it is permissible to use it in the necessity of itching and lice, then why is it prohibited in the conditions of war? In the battlefield, its need arises because such clothing is not easily affected by swords, spears, etc.; rather, swords and the like slip off it.
Some scholars have also written that this garment intimidates the enemy; on this basis, wearing it during battle is permissible.
And Allah knows best.
