Hadith 2702

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ ، قَالَ : انْطَلَقَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ، وَمُحَيِّصَةُ بْنُ مَسْعُودِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ إِلَى خَيْبَرَ ، وَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ صُلْحٌ " .
Narrated Sahl bin Abu Hathma: `Abdullah bin Sahl and Muhaiyisa bin Mas`ud bin Zaid went to Khaibar when it had a peace treaty (with the Muslims).

Hadith Commentary:
From this, making a peace treaty with disbelievers is established.
Islam has given specific instructions regarding peace treaties precisely because Islam is entirely a standard-bearer of peace and reconciliation.
Islam has never favored fighting and conflict; there is a clear directive in the Noble Qur’an.
﴿وَإِنْ جَنَحُوا لِلسَّلْمِ فَاجْنَحْ لَهَا﴾ (: al-Anfal: 61)
If the enemy inclines towards peace, then you must also incline towards it.
Wherever there are commands regarding warfare in the Noble Qur’an, they are only for defense.
There is no directive for aggression anywhere.
