Hadith Commentary:

It is as if the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam himself took the initiative for reconciliation; this is precisely the objective of the chapter.

Mutual disputes can arise at any time, but the demand of Islam—and indeed of humanity itself—is that such conflicts should be resolved through wise management, bringing about mutual agreement.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In times of serious disputes, trustworthy scholars and influential personalities should play their role in reconciliation, and they should not wait for someone to invite them to mediate before they go. Although it is the duty of the imam and the ruler of the time to take appropriate action and administer punishments, if instead of passing judgment they reconcile the parties, then this action of theirs is better.
(2)
From this, it is also understood that one should arrive at the scene of the incident and assess the situation so that it becomes easier to reach a conclusion and some way for reconciliation may be found.
