بَابُ مَا كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوَاسِي بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا فِي الزِّرَاعَةِ وَالثَّمَرَةِ:Chapter. The companions of the Prophet ﷺ used to share the yields and fruits of their farms with each other gratis.

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كَانُوا يَزْرَعُونَهَا بِالثُّلُثِ وَالرُّبُعِ وَالنِّصْفِ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَرْضٌ فَلْيَزْرَعْهَا أَوْ لِيَمْنَحْهَا ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ فَلْيُمْسِكْ أَرْضَهُ " .
Narrated Jabir: The people used to rent their land for cultivation for one-third, one-fourth or half its yield. The Prophet said, "Whoever has land should cultivate it himself or give it to his (Muslim) brother gratis; otherwise keep it uncultivated."
