Narrated 'Ubaid bin `Umair: Abu Musa asked `Umar to admit him but he was not admitted as `Umar was busy, so Abu Musa went back. When `Umar finished his job he said, "Didn't I hear the voice of `Abdullah bin Qais? Let him come in." `Umar was told that he had left. So, he sent for him and on his arrival, he (Abu Musa) said, "We were ordered to do so (i.e. to leave if not admitted after asking permission thrice). `Umar told him, "Bring witness in proof of your statement." Abu Musa went to the Ansar's meeting places and asked them. They said, "None amongst us will give this witness except the youngest of us, Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri. Abu Musa then took Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (to `Umar) and `Umar said, surprisingly, "Has this order of Allah's Apostle been hidden from me?" (Then he added), "I used to be busy trading in markets."

Hadith Commentary:
In the narration, it is mentioned that Umar (radi Allahu anhu) used to engage in trade in the marketplace.
From this, the objective of the chapter is established.
Many other rulings can also be derived from the hadith, for example: if someone goes to visit another at their home, he should go to the door and seek permission three times with greetings of peace (salam); if he does not receive a response, he should return.
It is also established that witnesses may be requested to verify a hadith.
Furthermore, it is proven that in matters of truth, the testimony of young children can also be accepted, and it is also established that forgetfulness and mistakes can occur even to the greatest of people, and so on.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In this hadith, it is mentioned that Umar (radi Allahu anhu) engaged in trade in the marketplace, and it is also established that he would go out for this purpose. This is the very reason for presenting this hadith. In addition, several other rulings are also established from this hadith, for example: If someone goes to visit another person at their house, he should go to the door and say salam three times and seek permission. If he does not receive a response, he should return, as detailed in another narration in which the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “If any of you seeks permission three times and is not granted permission, then he should return.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Isti’dhan, Hadith: 6245) (2)
It is also established that one may request witnesses to confirm a Prophetic hadith, and that the testimony of young children can be accepted. It is also established that forgetfulness and mistakes can occur even to great individuals. And Allah knows best.
