Hadith Commentary:
(1)
From the statement of Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu), it is understood that if an obstacle occurs for the one performing ‘umrah, he should exit the state of ihram just as a pilgrim (haji) exits ihram if he encounters an obstacle.
(2)
This hadith also shows that the one performing Qiran Hajj will perform only one tawaf (circumambulation). He is not required to perform two tawafs.
(3)
It should be noted that the mentioned hadith refers to the incident when Hajjaj ibn Yusuf launched an attack on Makkah Mukarramah to fight against Abdullah ibn Zubair (radi Allahu anhu).
(4)
Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) initially intended to perform Hajj. When he was informed about the turmoil, he donned the ihram for ‘umrah. After proceeding a short distance, he remarked that the ruling for both (Hajj and ‘umrah) is the same, and thereafter he also made the intention for Hajj along with it.
