The Book of Zakat
بَابُ اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ:
(10) Chapter. “Protect yourself from Hell-fire even with a half date, or with the little object of charity.”
Hadith 1417
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَعْقِلٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَدِيَّ بْنَ حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ " .
Narrated `Adi bin Hatim heard the Prophet saying: "Save yourself from Hell-fire even by giving half a date-fruit in charity."
