Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Allah's Apostle said, "When the funeral is ready (for its burial) and the people lift it on their shoulders, then if the deceased is a righteous person he says, 'Take me ahead,' and if he is not a righteous one then he says, 'Woe to it (me)! Where are you taking it (me)?' And his voice is audible to everything except human beings; and if they heard it they would fall down unconscious . "

Hadith Commentary:
At the time when the funeral bier is being carried, Allah, the Exalted, grants the deceased a barzakh (intermediate realm) tongue. If the deceased is destined for Paradise, then out of longing for Paradise, he says, "Take me quickly, so that I may soon attain my desire." And if he is destined for Hellfire, then he anxiously says, "Alas! Where are you taking me?"
At that moment, Allah, the Exalted, grants them the ability to speak in such a concealed manner, and this voice is heard by all creatures except humans and jinn.
Some people have taken this hadith as evidence for the doctrine of the hearing of the dead (sama‘ al-mawta), which is absolutely incorrect.
In the Noble Qur’an, the negation of the hearing of the dead is clearly mentioned:
If the dead were able to hear our voices, they would not be called "the dead."
For this reason, all the Imams of guidance have denied the hearing of the dead. The arguments of those who affirm the hearing of the dead are entirely baseless.
A detailed explanation of this will be given at another place.

Hadith Commentary:
➊
At the time of lifting the funeral bier, Allah Ta’ala grants the deceased a Barzakh (intermediate realm) tongue.
If he is among the people of Paradise, then out of longing for Paradise he anxiously says: “Quickly, quickly take me to my place so that I may attain my desire.”
And if he is among the people of Hellfire, then in panic he says: “Alas! Where are you taking me?”

A similar topic has already passed, whose wording is:
The funeral placed on the bier says: “Take me quickly.” The wisdom in this repetition is that the previous topic was appropriate to its preceding subject, in that it explained the reason for hastening with the funeral, and the present one is also appropriate to its preceding subject, in that it describes the beginning of the presentation (before Allah), which commences as soon as the funeral is lifted, because at that very moment the deceased comes to know of his outcome.

And Allah knows best.
