Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "No Muslim whose three children died will go to the Fire except for Allah's oath (i.e. everyone has to pass over the bridge above the lake of fire)."

Hadith Commentary:
If parents show patience upon the death of their minor children, they are rewarded for it.
Naturally, the death of a child is a great sorrow for the parents, and that is why, if someone bears it with patience, understanding that it was Allah Ta’ala who gave this child and now He has taken him back, then the reward for this patience will be in accordance with the gravity of the calamity.
His sins will be forgiven.
And in the Hereafter, his place will be in Paradise.
In the end, it is mentioned that although every Muslim will have to pass over Hell, those believing servants who are not deserving of it, their passing will be just as if an oath is being fulfilled.
Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has also written the verse of the Noble Qur’an on this.
Some scholars have explained it by saying that the Bridge of Sirat (pul sirat) is itself over Hell, and every human will have to pass over it.
Now, the righteous will pass over it easily, but the evil-doers or disbelievers will not be able to cross and will fall into Hell, so passing over Hell refers to this.
Here, it should also be kept in mind that in the hadith, this great reward is promised upon the death of minor children.
There is no mention of adults, even though the calamity of the death of an adult, especially a young child, is the greatest.
The reason for this is that children intercede with Allah Ta’ala for their parents.
In some narrations, this same promise is mentioned even upon the death of one child.
As for patience, in any case, it will be rewarded even upon the death of an adult.
In short, the meaning of passing over Hell is to pass over the Bridge of Sirat, which is erected over the back of Hell.
Thus, the believer’s entering Hell is in fact passing over the Bridge of Sirat.
This is the meaning of the noble verse: ﴿

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has chosen the word "virtue" (fadilah) in the chapter heading so that the various hadiths on this subject can be reconciled. For instance, in one hadith, there is the glad tidings of entering Paradise for children who die before reaching maturity; in another, it is mentioned that they become a barrier from Hellfire; and in a third, it is stated that entry to Hell occurs only to fulfill an oath.
All of these hadiths establish only virtue, because entry into Paradise can also occur after entering Hell and then being taken out of it. Therefore, the second hadith makes it clear that entry into Paradise will occur without entering Hell. According to the third hadith, passing over Hell will only be as a procedural fulfillment of an oath.
As Allah the Exalted has said:
﴿وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا ۚ كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِيًّا ﴿٧١﴾) (Maryam: 71/19)
"There is not one of you but will pass over it (Hell); this is with your Lord a decree which must be accomplished."
Among those who pass over Hell, there will be some who will not even hear its sound, and these will be the people for whom goodness has already been decreed by Allah.
(2)
This is a great glad tidings for parents. Although in the hadiths this good news is mentioned for the death of two or three children, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah’s chapter heading indicates that this glad tidings is also for the death of a single child, and even for a stillborn child this virtue will be attained. However, the condition for attaining this virtue is that as soon as such a calamity befalls, one should exercise patience and hope for reward from Allah the Exalted.
As in a hadith, Allah the Exalted says:
"When I take away a beloved thing of My servant in the world, and he remains patient over it and hopes for reward from Me, then he will certainly be admitted to Paradise." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Riqaq, Hadith: 6424)
(3)
It is explicitly stated in the hadiths that the children who die are those who have not reached maturity (nabaligh), because they are innocent and their intercession will be accepted. Otherwise, in terms of the pain of loss, the death of older children is even more difficult.
And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary:
By "oath" is meant Allah's statement: ﴿وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا﴾ — that is, there is none among you except that he will pass over it (the Hellfire).

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In this hadith, the word "qasam" is used, which refers to an oath or a sworn statement (yamin or half). In the narration, "qasam" refers to the noble statement of Allah Ta'ala:
﴿وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا﴾ "There is none among you but will pass over it (Hell)." (: Maryam 19:71)
In this statement of Allah the Exalted, a word is implied (muqaddar).
The original phrase is as follows:
"By Allah! There is none among you but will pass over Hell."
(‘Umdat al-Qari: 15/706)
(2)
Some scholars are of the opinion that in this, the oath is not implied (hidden), but rather it is a conjunction (atf) to the previous verse, whose words are:
"By your Lord! We will surely gather them and the devils with them."
The conjunction is made to this oath.
(Fath al-Bari: 11/661)
(3)
It should be clear that "to pass over" (warid) does not mean to enter, but rather to pass over from above.
And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: These hadiths establish that the minor children of Muslims are destined for Paradise, and they serve as a means of protection from Hellfire for a believing person. Since a minor child is innocent (ma‘soom), just as he can persistently plead, a mature (baligh) child cannot insist in the same way for the salvation of his parents, as he is concerned for his own fate.

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: There is no authentic hadith regarding asking about a child, except for this narration of Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu, which is authentic: "Allah, the Exalted, says: 'When I take away from My believing servant a beloved person from among the people of the world, and he seeks My pleasure in this, then I will admit him to Paradise.'" Explanation:
1:
By "tahallatu al-qasam" is meant the statement of Allah Ta'ala: "And there is none of you except he will come to it" (), and by "coming" (wurud) is meant passing over the Bridge (Sirat) over Hell.

Commentary: Allah Ta'ala will grant this entitlement to Paradise to those parents who, along with demonstrating patience and acceptance at the death of their children, also lived a life of faith and piety (taqwa). Allah Ta'ala will accept the intercession of these children on behalf of such believers and will admit them into Paradise at the very first stage.

1876. Commentary: By "qasam" (oath), what is meant is the statement of Allah Almighty in the Noble Qur’an: (Wa in minkum illa wariduha kana ‘ala rabbika hatman maqdiya) (Maryam 19:71) “And there is none of you except he will come to it; this is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed.” The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) explained its meaning as follows: every person will have to pass over the Sirat (the Bridge of Sirat), which is over Hellfire, so that the remaining effects of sins in him may be removed by the heat or fire of Hell, and thus he may enter Paradise purified and cleansed. Since man is by nature sinful, it is reasonable that every human being must pass over the Sirat. However, it is a different matter that infallible persons, such as the Prophets (alayhim as-salam), will pass over it like lightning.

Benefits and Issues:
(1)
A person naturally has more love for his children.
Therefore, there is special reward for exercising patience upon the death of one's children.
(2)
In "al-walad" (children),
both sons and daughters are included.
Whether sons pass away or daughters, the reward is equal.
(3)
This reward is for both the mother and the father.
(4)
The fulfillment of the oath means that he will pass over Hell but will not enter Hell.
As Allah the Exalted has said:
﴿وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا ۚ كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِيًّا﴾ (Maryam: 71)
"Every one of you will surely pass over it."
This is a decisive decree of your Lord.
The righteous believers will cross easily.
Sinful believers and disbelievers will fall into Hell.
After that, the believers will be taken out of Hell at their appointed times.
And the disbelievers will remain in Hell forever.

Takhrij al-Hadith:
Understanding (Tafaqquh):
➊ Due to patience, a Muslim receives a very great reward from Allah Ta'ala's court of mercy and grace.
➋ The (minor) children of Muslims are in Paradise.
➌ When a Companion's child passed away, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to him: «أَمَا تَرْضَى أَلَّا تَأْتِيَ بَابًا مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ إِلَّا جَاءَ يَسْعَى حَتَّى يَفْتَحَهُ لَكَ؟» Are you not pleased that whichever gate of Paradise you come to, your child will come running and open the gate for you?
● It is understood from this that the deceased child of parents who are patient will open the gates of Paradise for them on the Day of Resurrection.
➍ The phrase "except for fulfilling an oath" refers to the verse of the Noble Qur'an «وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا» "And every one of you will come to it."
