بَابُ كَيْفَ كَانَ صَلاَةُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَمْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ:Chapter. How was the Salat (Tahajjud prayer) of the Prophet ﷺ and how many Raka, he used to offer at night?
Hadith 1139

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَصِينٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ وَثَّابٍ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ , قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عنها عَنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ ، فَقَالَتْ : " سَبْعٌ وَتِسْعٌ وَإِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ سِوَى رَكْعَتِي الْفَجْرِ " .
Narrated Masruq: I asked Aisha about the night prayer of Allah's Apostle and she said, "It was seven, nine or eleven rak`at besides the two rak`at of the Fajr prayer (i.e. Sunna). "

By "the night prayer" is meant the prayer of Tahajjud (night vigil) outside of Ramadan, and Tarawih during Ramadan.
