Justice required from leaders
Hadith 1094
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْوَرَّاقُ ، قَالَ : ثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " كُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ ، وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ ، فَالأَمِيرُ الَّذِي عَلَى النَّاسِ رَاعٍ عَلَيْهِمْ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْهُمْ ، أَلا وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ رَاعٍ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْهُمْ ، أَلا وَإِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ رَاعِيَةٌ عَلَى بَيْتِ زَوْجِهَا وَهِيَ مَسْئُولَةٌ عَنْهُمْ ، أَلا وَالْعَبْدُ رَاعٍ عَلَى مَالِ سَيِّدِهِ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْهُ ، أَلا فَكُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: All of you are guardians (responsible) and all of you will be questioned regarding your subjects. Thus, the leader of the people is responsible for them and will be questioned about them (before Allah). Beware! A man is responsible for his household and will be questioned about them. Beware! A woman is responsible for her husband’s house and will be questioned about it. Beware! A servant is responsible for his master’s wealth and will be questioned about that wealth. Listen! All of you are guardians (responsible) and all of you will be questioned regarding your subjects.
