The noble wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that when the people of Makkah sent ransom to free their captives, Sayyidah Zainab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), also sent (for her husband) Abu al-As a necklace to free him, which Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) had given her at the time of her marriage to Abu al-As. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saw that necklace, he was deeply moved by it, and he (peace be upon him) said: If you deem it appropriate, then for her (Zainab's) sake, release her captive and return her property to her. The companions said: O Messenger of Allah! Certainly. So they released him (Abu al-As) and also returned Sayyidah Zainab's property to her.
