Hadith 1085
Yazid bin Hurmaz (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Najdah wrote a letter to Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them). Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) replied in writing: You wrote to me asking whether the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to take women to battle. The answer is that he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to take them to battle; they would treat the sick, and they were also given gifts from the spoils of war, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not allocate a fixed share for them.

Yazid bin Hurmaz (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Najdah wrote a letter to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) and asked him about various issues. Yazid (may Allah have mercy on him) says: When Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) read his letter and wrote a reply to him, I was present with him at that time. He said: You have asked me about women and slaves, that if they participate in battle, is a share (of the spoils) fixed for them? There was no fixed share for either of them; they were only given some gift from the spoils of the people.

Umair, the freed slave of Abu Lahm, may Allah be pleased with them both, narrates: I participated in the Battle of Khaybar with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and at that time I was a slave. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Please grant me a share. The Prophet (peace be upon him) gave me a sword and said: Hang it around your neck. He also gave me some household items.
