Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Return my cloak, return my cloak! By Allah, if I had as many camels as the trees of Tihamah, I would distribute them among you, and you would not find me miserly, cowardly, or a liar. Then he stood by a camel and took a hair from its hump and said: O people! Apart from the khums (one-fifth) of your spoils, even this much is not lawful for me, and the khums is also returned to you. So, return even a needle and thread, for betrayal will be a source of shame, Hell, and disgrace for the betrayer on the Day of Resurrection. An Ansari brought a bundle of hair rope and said: O Messenger of Allah! I took this rope to sew a cover for my camel. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The rope of my share has been given to you. (I am not responsible for the rest.) He said: If the matter is so severe, then I have no need for it.
Hadith 1081
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a Muslim man passed away on the day of Khaybar. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed about him so that he might lead his funeral prayer, but he said: "You yourselves offer the funeral prayer of your companion." The people's faces changed. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw their condition, he said: "Your companion has committed treachery regarding the spoils of war." The narrator says: We searched his belongings and found a bead belonging to the Jews. By Allah! Its value was not even equal to two dirhams.
