Permissibility of enemy food without division
Hadith 1072
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، قَالَ : ثنا هُشَيْمٌ ، قَالَ : أنا الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُجَالِدِ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَنِي أَهْلُ الْمَسْجِدِ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ طَعَامِ خَيْبَرَ ، أَخَمَّسَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ : لا ، كَانَ أَيْسَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، كَانَ أَحَدُنَا يَأْخُذُ مِنْهُ حَاجَتَهُ " .
Muhammad bin Abi Mujalid (may Allah have mercy on him) reports that the people of the mosque sent me to Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him), so I asked him about the food items of Khaybar: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) take a fifth from them? He replied: No! The matter was very simple; each of us would take from it according to his need.
