Fleeing to another group in battle
Hadith 1050
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الطَّبَّاعُ ، قَالَ : ثنا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : بَعَثَنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ فَحَاصَ النَّاسُ حَيْصَةً ، فَدَخَلْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَتَخَبَّأْنَا فِي الْبُيُوتِ ، ثُمَّ ظَهَرْنَا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْنَا : هَلَكْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَحْنُ الْفَرَّارُونَ ، فَقَالَ : " بَلْ أَنْتُمُ الْعَكَّارُونَ ، أَنَا فِئَتُكُمْ " .
Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent us on an expedition. (We fled from there and, after returning to Madinah, hid in our homes. Then we presented ourselves before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! We are ruined, we have fled (from the battlefield). He said: You are not distressed, rather you are those who turn back to attack, and I am included among your group.
