Hadith 1049
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: It was obligatory upon them that one man should not flee from (the battle against) ten men, and twenty men should not flee from (the battle against) two hundred men. Then, leniency was granted to them and it was said: ﴿الْآنَ خَفَّفَ اللهُ عَنْكُمْ﴾ (Al-Anfal: 66) (Now Allah has lightened (the burden) for you), and it was made obligatory upon them that one hundred men should not flee from two hundred, and ten men should not flee from twenty men.
