Continuity of jihad until the Day of Judgment
Hadith 1031
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لا تَزَالُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي يُقَاتِلُونَ عَلَى الْحَقِّ ظَاهِرِينَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ، قَالَ : فَيَنْزِلُ عِيسَى بْنُ مَرْيَمَ ، فَيَقُولُ أَمِيرُهُمْ : تَعَالَ صَلِّ لَنَا ، فَيَقُولُ : لا ، إِنَّ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ أَمِيرٌ لِتَكْرِمَةِ اللَّهِ هَذِهِ الأُمَّةِ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: A group from my Ummah will always continue to fight for the truth and will remain dominant until the Day of Resurrection. He further said: Then Isa ibn Maryam will descend from the heavens, and their leader will say: Come, lead us in prayer. He will say: No! Allah Almighty has honored this Ummah that you are to be leaders of one another.
