Hadith 968
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever frees a believing slave, Allah Almighty will free every limb of his in exchange for every limb of that slave from Hell, even to the extent that a hand for a hand, a leg for a leg, and a private part for a private part will be freed. Ali bin Husain (may Allah have mercy on him) asked: Saeed! Did you yourself hear this hadith from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him)? He replied: Yes! Then Ali bin Husain (may Allah have mercy on him) said to the chief of his slaves: Call Mutarrif to me. When he came before him, he said: Go, you are free for the sake of Allah.

He asked: Which slave is best to set free? He replied: The one who is most valuable and most beloved to his owners. He says: I asked: If I am not able to do that (set such a slave free)? He replied: Help someone who is in need or do work for someone who is unskilled. He said: If I am unable to do even that (i.e., cannot do this either)? He replied: Refrain from evil; this is a charity that you do for your own self.
