Hadith 882
Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The greatest offender among the Muslims is the one who asked about something that was not forbidden, and because of his question, it was made forbidden.

زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، قَالَ : ثنا
هِشَام ، قَالَ : أنا
أَبُو بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ
سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ
ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ أَكْلِ الضِّباب ، فَقَالَ : " أَهْدَتْ خَالَتِي أُمُّ حُفَيْدٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمْنًا وَأَقِطًا وَأَضُبًّا ، فَأَكَلَ مِنَ السَّمْنِ وَالأَقِطِ ، وَتَرَكَ الضِّباب تَقَذُّرًا لَهُمْ ، وَلَوْ كَانَ حَرَامًا مَا أُكِلْنَ عَلَى مَائِدَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It was asked from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about eating the dhab (lizard). He replied: My maternal aunt Umm Hufaid sent a gift to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) consisting of ghee, cheese, and dhabs. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ate some of the ghee and cheese, and left the dhabs due to his own reason. If they had been unlawful, they would not have been eaten at the table of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), nor would the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have permitted their consumption.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade every predatory animal with fangs and every bird that hunts with its talons.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that at a place called Marr az-Zahran, we chased a rabbit. People ran after it, and I caught it. I brought it to Sayyiduna Abu Talhah, and he sent its thigh meat to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and he accepted it.
Hadith 890
Abdur Rahman bin Abdullah bin Abi Ammar says that I met Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) and asked him: Tell me, can we eat hyena? He said: Yes! I asked: Is it considered game? He said: Yes! I said: Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Yes.
Hadith 889
Sayyiduna Abu Tha’labah al-Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade eating every predatory animal with fangs.
Hadith 888
Zahdam al-Jarmi narrates that a man abstained from eating chicken and said: I saw it eating something because of which I developed an aversion to it. So, Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) eating it.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking the milk of a Jallalah (an animal that eats filth), killing an animal by tying it up and shooting arrows at it (Mujaththama), and drinking directly from the mouth of a water-skin.

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the meat of donkeys on the day of Khaybar and permitted the meat of horses.

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that on the day of Khaybar, we slaughtered horses, mules, and donkeys, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from (eating) mules and donkeys, but he did not forbid (eating) horses.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade eating the meat of domestic donkeys.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No one should eat or drink with his left hand, for indeed Satan eats and drinks with his left hand.

عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : أَتَى قَوْمٌ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : إِنَّا نُؤْتَى بِاللَّحْمِ لا نَدْرِي يُسَمَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ، أَوْ لَمْ يُسَمَّ ، فَقَالَ : " اذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ وَكُلُوا " .
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that some people came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Meat is brought to us, and we do not know whether the name of Allah was mentioned over it or not (i.e., whether Bismillah Allahu Akbar was recited or not), so what should we do? He said: Recite Bismillah and eat it.
Hadith 880
Abu Ya’fur says that I came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him about locusts. He replied: We fought six battles in the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and we used to eat locusts.
Hadith 879
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the water of the sea, so he (peace be upon him) said: Its water is pure and its dead (animals) are lawful.

جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ ، فَنَفِدَ أَزْوَادُنَا ، فَمَرَرْنَا بِحُوتٍ قَذَفَهُ الْبَحْرُ ، فَأَرَدْنَا أَنْ نَأْكُلَ مِنْهُ فَنَهَانَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : نَحْنُ رُسُلُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، فَكُلُوا ، فَأَكَلْنَا مِنْهُ أَيَّامًا ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرْنَاهُ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنْ كَانَ بَقِيَ مَعَكُمْ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ فَابْعَثُوا بِهِ إِلَيْنَا " .
Sayyiduna Jabir reports that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me with Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah in a detachment (small army). Our food ran out, and we passed by a fish which the sea had thrown out. We wanted to eat from it, but Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah forbade us. Then he said: We are messengers of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and have set out in the way of Allah, so eat it. Thus, we ate from it for several days. When we presented ourselves before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we informed him about it. He said: If you have any part of it left, send it to us.
Hadith 877
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a woman who had a ring made and filled it (in place of a gem) with fine perfume, that is, musk.
Hadith 876
Sayyiduna Abu Waqid Al-Laithi narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to Madinah, the people there used to cut the humps of living camels and the fat tails of sheep (rams). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whatever part is cut from a living animal is unlawful (haram). Yahya ibn Ma'in says: Yahya al-Qattan also narrated from Abdur Rahman ibn Abdullah ibn Dinar.
Hadith 875
Sayyiduna Usama bin Umair Hudhali reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade using the skins of predatory animals as bedding (one should not sit on them).
Hadith 874
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports marfu‘ that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Any hide that is tanned becomes pure.

عَطَاءٍ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " رَأَى شَاةً مَيْتَةً لِبَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِهِ ، فَقَالَ : أَلا دَبَغْتُمْ إِهَابَهَا فَانْتَفَعْتُمْ بِهَا " ، وَعَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَكَانَ قَدْ سَمِعَهُ قَبْلَهُ بِأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ .
Ata bin Abi Rabah narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saw a dead goat belonging to one of his wives, so he said: Why did you not tan its skin so that you could benefit from it? Amr bin Dinar heard this narration from Ata forty years earlier; he narrated it from Ibn Abbas, and he narrated it from Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with them).
Hadith 872
Lady Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that a mouse fell into ghee and died. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked about it, and he said: Throw away the mouse and the ghee around it, and use the rest.
Hadith 871
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a mouse that falls into clarified butter (ghee) and dies. He (peace be upon him) said: If the ghee is solid, then remove the mouse and the ghee around it, and if the ghee is melted, then do not go near it, do not eat it.
Hadith 870
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated this aforementioned hadith. Abu Muhammad says: I heard Muhammad bin Yahya, he was saying: According to us, insha’Allah, by Qasim is meant Abu Bakr bin Ubaidullah.
