Hadith 829
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man who had drunk alcohol was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he struck him with two sticks about forty lashes. Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the same punishment. When the era of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came, he consulted the companions. Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The lightest punishment is (eighty) lashes.

أَبُو يَحْيَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ الْبَزَّارُ ، قَالَ : أنا

الحَسَنِ ، عَنْ
أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ ، فَضَرَبَهُ بِجَرِيدَتَيْنِ أَرْبَعِينَ " وَصَنَعَ ذَلِكَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ اسْتَشَارَ النَّاسَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ : أَخَفُّ الْحُدُودِ ثَمَانِينَ ، فَفَعَلَهُ .

Hadith 831
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When he (the one who drinks alcohol) becomes intoxicated, flog him. Three times he gave this command, then the fourth time he said: Kill him.
Hadith 832
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The blood (killing) of a Muslim who testifies that there is no deity except Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah is not lawful, except in three cases: a life for a life, a married adulterer, and one who leaves his religion and separates from the (Muslim) community.
