Hadith 785
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: For each finger, the blood money is ten camels, and for a wound that exposes the bone (muwadhih), the blood money is five camels.

Sayyiduna Sa'id bin al-Musayyib and Haram bin Sa'd narrate that Bara's she-camel entered a people's garden and caused damage. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) decided that during the day, the protection of the crops is the responsibility of the owner, and at night, any damage caused by the animals is the responsibility of the owners of the animals. Ibn Maqri has also narrated the same meaning with a few changes in wording.

He replied: By Him Who split the grain and created the soul! There is nothing except this scroll and the Book of Allah, and the understanding which Allah has granted. I asked: What is in this scroll? He said: (The rulings of) blood money (diyah), the freeing of captives, and that a Muslim is not to be killed in retaliation for a disbeliever.
Hadith 793
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that in the year of the conquest of Makkah, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered Makkah, he stood and delivered a sermon. Abu Muhammad says: I have written that sermon in the Book of Siyar.

Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I participated with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the expedition of 'Usrah (the expedition of Tabuk), and this was the deed I relied upon the most. I had a slave who got into a fight with another man. One of them bit the hand of his companion, and when he pulled his finger out, the biter's front tooth fell out. He came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for a decision, and the Prophet declared his tooth to be forfeit. Imam Ata bin Abi Rabah says: In my opinion, Safwan narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Would he have left his hand in your mouth so that you could chew it like a camel?

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man peeped into one of the rooms of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a comb (made of wood with thorns) with which he was scratching his head. He said: If I had known that you were looking at me, I would have poked this comb into your eyes. The command to seek permission has been prescribed only because of the gaze.
Hadith 788
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that a man from Banu Mudlij had a slave woman, from whom he had a son. That man used to make the slave woman serve him. When the boy grew up, one day the man called the slave woman and said, “Do such and such work.” The boy said, “She will not come to you. How long will you keep commanding my mother?” The father, in anger, threw a sword at him, which struck his leg or some other part of his body and cut it. The boy bled and died. That man came to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) with a group of his people. Umar said, “O enemy of your own soul! You yourself have killed your son. If I had not heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that a father is not to be killed in retaliation for his son, I would have killed you. Pay the blood money (diyah).” The narrator says: The man brought one hundred and twenty or thirty camels to Umar, and Umar selected one hundred camels from them and distributed them among the heirs, excluding the father.
Hadith 787
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that Sayyiduna Sa’d bin ‘Ubada (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): If I see a non-mahram man with my wife, should I wait until I bring four witnesses? He replied: Yes.
Hadith 786
Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Amr bin Hazm reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ruled that for a wound exposing the bone (mudiha), five camels are to be given, and for a head wound reaching the brain (ma’mumah), one third of the blood money is to be given.
Hadith 773
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Listen! Every blood (lineage), wealth, or any matter that was considered a source of pride in the days of ignorance is under my feet (it has no significance), except for giving water to pilgrims and protecting its (the Ka'bah's) house. Then he said: Listen! The blood money for accidental killing that occurs with a whip or stick is one hundred camels, among which forty should be pregnant (she-camels).

Sayyiduna Abu Hadraad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent us on a military expedition, in which I was included, and Abu Qatadah Ansari and Muhallim bin Jathamah bin Qais were also included. As we were going, ‘Amir bin al-Adbat Ashja‘i passed by us and he greeted us with the Islamic greeting of peace. We did not kill him, but then Muhallim bin Jathamah attacked and killed him, and seized his camel and fresh dates that he had with him. When we came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the Qur’an was revealed about us: “O you who believe! When you go forth in the cause of Allah, investigate...” (an-Nisa: 94) until the end of the verse.
‘Urwah bin Zubair says: My father and grandfather were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Battle of Hunayn. They told me: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Zuhr prayer and then sat under the shade of a tree. Aqra‘ bin Habis and ‘Uyaynah bin Badr stood before him. ‘Uyaynah was demanding the blood of the Ashja‘i (the one killed), and Aqra‘ was defending him. So both of them argued for a long time before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Take fifty camels of blood money during the journey and fifty after returning. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying this until they agreed to the blood money. When they agreed to take the blood money, they said: Where is your companion (Muhallim), so that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) may seek forgiveness for him? A tall man stood up, wearing a hullah (garment), and was ready to be killed. He sat before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he asked: What is your name? He said: I am Muhallim bin Jathamah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May Allah not forgive Muhallim bin Jathamah. So he stood up, wiping his tears with his cloak.

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that two women from the tribe of Huzail fought with each other. One struck the other with a stone and killed her along with her unborn child. They brought their dispute to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He decided that the blood money (diyah) for the unborn child is a "ghurra"—that is, a male or female slave. He placed the blood money for the (killed) woman upon the 'aqilah (male relatives) of the killer, and he made the son of the deceased woman, along with the other heirs, her inheritor. Haml bin Nabigha Huzali said: "Why should I pay the blood money for a child who neither ate nor drank, neither spoke nor cried? The blood of such a child is wasted." Upon hearing his rhymed speech, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is the brother of soothsayers."

Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that among the Children of Israel, there was only retribution (qisas), not blood money (diyah). Allah Almighty commanded this Ummah (of Muhammad): “O you who believe! Retaliation is prescribed for you in the case of those killed: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But if any remission is made to one by his (aggrieved) brother...” (__QUR_2:178__) (O you who believe! Retaliation has been made obligatory upon you in cases of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the woman for the woman. But if he is pardoned by his brother [the heir of the slain]...) Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: By pardon, it is meant that in the case of intentional murder, blood money (diyah) is accepted. “Then follow up in a reasonable manner, and pay (the blood money) with good conduct.” (__QUR_2:178__) (So follow up in a reasonable manner and pay with good conduct.) It is obligatory for the one receiving the blood money to follow up in a reasonable manner, and it is obligatory for the one paying the blood money to pay it with good conduct. “This is a concession from your Lord.” (__QUR_2:178__) (This is an ease from your Lord) compared to what was made obligatory upon those before you. “But whoever transgresses after that will have a painful punishment.” (__QUR_2:178__) (Whoever transgresses after that, for him there is a painful punishment.)
Hadith 774
Sayyiduna Abu Shurayh Khuza’i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever is killed or wounded, his heirs have the right to choose one of three things: they may take retribution (qisas), forgive, or accept blood money (diyah). If they intend a fourth option, restrain their hand. Whoever exceeds the limit after taking any of these rights will abide forever in Hell.
