Sayyiduna Abu Usaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and proceeded towards a garden whose name was Shawt. When we reached near two gardens, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sit here. He himself went inside. Junayyah (a woman) was brought and seated in the house of dates belonging to Umaymah bint Nu’man bin Sharahil. Her nurse, who took care of her, was also with her. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to her, he said: Give yourself to me (in marriage). She replied: Has a queen ever given herself to a subject? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lowered his hand; he wanted to place his hand on her to comfort her, but she said: I seek refuge with Allah from you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You have sought refuge with a Great One. Then he came out to us and said: Abu Usaid! Give her two garments and take her to her home.
