Hadith 267
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The night prayer is in sets of two rak'ahs. When you fear that dawn is approaching, then perform one rak'ah as witr. In the narration of Mahmood, it is stated: It will make your previous prayer an odd number (witr).
Hadith 258
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I went out with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha (towards the Eid ground). He performed the prayer first, then delivered the sermon, then came to the women, advised and admonished them, and instructed them to give charity.
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Witr in every part of the night up until Suhoor.

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever fears that he may not wake up at the end of the night should offer Witr at the beginning of the night (after ‘Isha) and whoever hopes to wake up at the end of the night should offer Witr in the last part of the night, because the angels are present at the prayer of the last part of the night, therefore, that is superior.
