Lady Umm Atiyyah Ansariyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to bring along unmarried young girls, menstruating women, and women in seclusion (purdah) on the days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha (to the Eid ground). The menstruating women should stay away from the place of prayer, but participate in goodness and the supplications of the Muslims. I asked: O Messenger of Allah! What if one of them does not have a cloak? He replied: Her sister should let her wear her own cloak.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I offered the Eid al-Fitr prayer with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, Sayyiduna Umar, and Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them). All of them used to perform the prayer first and then deliver the sermon. He says: It is as if I am still seeing that scene before me, when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) descended (after delivering the sermon), he began to make the people sit down by gesturing with his hand. Then, passing through their rows, he reached the women. Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited this verse «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ يُبَايِعْنَكَ عَلَى أَنْ لَا يُشْرِكْنَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا...... الخ». After reciting the verse, he asked: Are you steadfast upon this? Only one woman replied: Yes! O Messenger of Allah! Hasan bin Muslim does not know who that woman was. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Give charity. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) spread out his cloth and began to say: May my parents be sacrificed for you, give charity. So the women began to put their earrings and rings into the cloth of Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 264
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I attended the Eid prayer with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: The prayer has been completed; whoever wishes to sit for the sermon may sit, and whoever wishes to leave may leave.
Hadith 265
Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Al-A’la and Surah Al-Ghashiyah in the Eid prayer, and if Eid and Jumu’ah occurred together, he would recite these same Surahs in both.

Abu Umair bin Anas, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates from his uncle, who was a companion of the Messenger of Allah, that the new moon of Shawwal was not sighted by us, so we fasted in the morning. Then, in the latter part of the day, a caravan arrived and they presented themselves before the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and testified that they had seen the new moon the previous day. Consequently, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered them to break their fast that day and to go to the Eid prayer ground the next day.
