Sleeping in prayer and making up missed prayers
Hadith 239
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عِيسَى، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ نَامَ عَنْ صَلَاةٍ أَوْ نَسِيَهَا فَكَفَّارَتُهَا أَنْ يُصَلِّيَهَا إِذَا ذَكَرَهَا»
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever forgets to pray a prayer or sleeps through it, its expiation is only that he should pray it when he remembers it.
Hadith 240
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ بَشِيرٍ أَبِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: عَرَّسْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ نَسْتَيْقِظْ حَتَّى آذَتْنَا الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لِيَأْخُذْ كُلُّ رَجُلٍ بِرَأْسِ رَاحِلَتِهِ ثُمَّ يَتَنَحَّ عَنْ هَذَا الْمَنْزِلِ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّى»
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we camped with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the last part of the night, and it was the heat of the sun that woke us up. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let every person take hold of his camel's rein and move from this place." Then he asked for water, performed ablution, and offered two units of prayer (Sunnah). Then the Iqamah was pronounced and the obligatory prayer was performed.
