Hadith 165
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: ثَنَا النُّفَيْلِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ أَوَّلَ مَا قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ صَلَّى قِبَلَ بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ سِتَّةَ عَشَرَ أَوْ سَبْعَةَ عَشَرَ شَهْرًا وَكَانَ يُعْجِبُهُ أَنْ تَكُونَ قِبْلَتُهُ قِبَلَ الْبَيْتِ وَأَنَّهُ أَوَّلُ صَلَاةٍ صَلَّى صَلَاةُ الْعَصْرِ وَصَلَّى مَعَهُ قَوْمٌ فَخَرَجَ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ صَلَّى مَعَهُ فَمَرَّ عَلَى أَهْلِ مَسْجِدٍ وَهُمْ رَاكِعُونَ فَقَالَ: أَشْهَدُ بِاللَّهِ لَقَدْ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قِبَلَ مَكَّةَ فَدَارُوا كَمَا هُمْ قِبَلَ الْبَيْتِ وَكَانَ يُعْجِبُهُ أَنْ يُحَوَّلَ قِبَلَ الْبَيْتِ وَذَكَرَ بَاقِي الْحَدِيثِ.
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madinah, for the first sixteen or seventeen months he used to pray facing Bayt al-Maqdis, although he liked that his qiblah should be towards the Ka’bah. He performed the ‘Asr prayer facing the Ka’bah, and the people were with him. One of those who had prayed with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) left (after the prayer) and passed by a mosque where the people were in the state of ruku‘. He said: I bear Allah as my witness that I have prayed with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) facing towards Makkah. So they turned towards Makkah while they were in that very state. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) liked that his qiblah be changed towards the Ka’bah. He mentioned the entire hadith.
Hadith 166
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا زَائِدَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لِيَجْعَلْ أَحَدُكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِثْلَ مُؤَخِّرَةِ الرَّحْلِ وَيُصَلِّي.
Sayyiduna Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: One should perform prayer placing something in front of him equal to the rear wooden part of a saddle.
Hadith 167
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: وَفِيمَا قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ، وَثَنِي مُطَرِّفٌ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ يُصَلِّي فَلَا يَدَعْ أَحَدًا يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلْيَدْرَأْ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ فَإِنْ أَبَى فَلْيُقَاتِلْهُ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ شَيْطَانٌ».
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When anyone is performing prayer, do not let anyone pass in front of him, and stop him as much as possible. If he insists on passing, then prevent him forcefully, for he is a devil.
Hadith 168
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُقْرِئِ، وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ آدَمَ، قَالَا: ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يَقُولُ: جِئْتُ أَنَا وَالْفَضْلُ، يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي وَنَحْنُ عَلَى أَتَانٍ فَمَرَرْنَا عَلَى بَعْضِ الصَّفِّ فَنَزَلْنَا عَنْهَا وَتَرَكْنَاهَا تَرْتَعُ فَلَمْ يَقُلْ لَنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا زَادَ مَحْمُودٌ: فَدَخَلْنَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that on the day of Arafah, I and Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) came riding on a donkey. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was leading the prayer. We passed in front of part of the row and got down from the donkey, and left the donkey to graze. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not say anything to us. In Mahmood’s narration, there is the addition that we joined the prayer.
Hadith 169
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ، قَالَ: ثَنِي يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ: ثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَأَنَا مُعْتَرِضَةٌ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ عَلَى الْفِرَاشِ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُوتِرَ أَيْقَظَنِي فَأَوْتَرْتُ
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform the Tahajjud prayer, and I would be lying on the bed between him and the Qiblah. When he (peace be upon him) wanted to perform Witr, he would wake me up as well, and I would also perform Witr.
