Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid bin Abd Rabbah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the bell to be rung to gather people for prayer, I saw a man in a dream holding a bell in his hand. I said to him: O servant of Allah! Will you sell it? He asked: What will you do with it? I said: We will call people to prayer with it. He said: Shall I not tell you something better than this? I said: Please do! He said: Say like this: «اللهُأَكْبَرُاللهُأَكْبَرُ ، اللهُأَكْبَرُاللهُأَكْبَرُ ، أَشْهَدُأَنْلَاإِلَهَإِلَّااللهُ ، أَشْهَدُأَنلَّاإِلَهَإِلَّااللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُأَنَّمُحَمَّدًارَّسُولُاللهِ ، أَشْهَدُأَنَّمُحَمَّدًارَّسُولُاللهِ ، حَيَّعَلَىالصَّلَاةِ ، حَيَّعَلَىالصَّلَاةِ ، حَيَّعَلَىالْفَلَاحِ ، حَيَّعَلَىالْفَلَاحِ ، اللَّهُأَكْبَرُاللهُأَكْبَرُ ، لَاإِلَهَإِلَّااللهُ .» Then he went a little further and said: For the Iqamah, say like this: «اللهُأَكْبَرُاللهُأَكْبَرُ ، أَشْهَدُأَنْ لا إِلهَإِلَّااللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُأَنَّمُحَمَّدًارَسُولُاللَّهِ ، حَيَّعَلَىالصَّلَاةِ ، حَيَّعَلَىالفَلَاح ، قَدْقَامَتِالصَّلَاةُ ، قَدْقَامَتِالصَّلَاةُ ، اللهُأَكْبَرُاللَّهُأَكْبَرُ ، لَاإِلَهَإِلَّااللهُ .» When morning came, I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and related my dream. He said: «ان شاء الله!» This is a true dream. Stand with Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) and tell him what you have seen, so he may give the Adhan, for his voice is louder than yours. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I stood with Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) and kept telling him, and he kept giving the Adhan. Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) heard these words in his house, so he came out quickly, dragging his cloak, and said: By the One Who sent you as a true Messenger! O Messenger of Allah! I also saw the same dream. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: All praise is due to Allah.
