Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He should give a dinar or half a dinar in charity.

Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A woman asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about a garment that had menstrual blood on it. He said: Scrape it off, then rub it with water, and after squeezing out the water, perform prayer in it.

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: An Ansari woman asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about a menstruating woman: if she wants to perform the ritual bath after menstruation (how should she do it?). He said: Perform a thorough bath with water and lotus leaves, then pour water over your head so that it reaches the roots of the hair, then take a perfumed cloth. She asked: What should I do with this cloth? The Prophet (peace be upon him) remained silent. The woman repeated the same question, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) again remained silent. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Take the perfumed cloth and clean the places where there is blood. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was listening, but he did not object.

Sayyida Zaynab bint Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that a woman, who was married to Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), used to bleed excessively. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to perform ghusl at the time of every prayer and then offer the prayer. Mu’ammar and Hisham have mentioned the name of this woman as Sayyida Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her).

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Lady Umm Habibah bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her), who was married to Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), complained of non-menstrual bleeding (istihada) before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For as many days as you used to leave prayer due to menstruation, now also leave prayer for the same number of days, then perform ghusl (ritual bath) and offer prayer." Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: She used to perform ghusl for every prayer.

Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that a woman used to have excessive (istihada) bleeding, which would not stop. Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), so he (peace be upon him) said: She should count the number of days she used to have menstruation before this (illness), and leave prayer for those days. After that, when the time for prayer comes, she should perform ghusl, tie a cloth (to prevent the blood), and offer prayer.
Abu Muhammad says: Musa bin Uqbah and Laith bin Sa’d have also mentioned an intermediary between Sulaiman and Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), whereas Malik, Ubaidullah, and Yahya did not mention an intermediary between Sulaiman and Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). Ayub also did not mention Nafi’ as an intermediary, rather he narrated with the words “from Sulaiman, from Umm Salamah.”

Hadith Takhrijاز غلام مصطفےٰ ظهير امن پوري: «إسناده ضعيف لأنه منقطع: مؤطأ الإمام مالك: 62/1، مسند الإمام أحمد: 320/6، سنن أبى داود: 274، سنن النسائي: 209، سليمان بن يسار نے سيده ام سلمه رضی اللہ عنہا سے سماع نهيں كيا، نيز ”رجل“ نامعلوم هے، اس حديث كے بهت سارے شواهد هيں، صحيح مسلم: 333، كي حديث اس سے مستغني كر ديتي هے.»
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Fatima bint Abu Hubaysh (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I suffer from Istihada (non-menstrual bleeding), due to which I cannot remain pure. Should I stop praying? He said: This is not menstruation, rather it is blood from a vein. When menstruation comes, leave the prayer. When the menstruation ends, wash off the blood and perform the prayer.

Mu’adhah ‘Adawiyyah (may Allah have mercy on her) narrates that a woman asked Sayyidah ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her): “Will a woman who was menstruating (and passed away) have to make up the missed prayers?” She replied: “Are you a Haruriyyah (from the settlement of the Khawarij near Kufa)? During the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), we too would menstruate, and we neither made up the missed prayers nor were we ordered to do so.”

This narration is also mentioned from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) with another chain of transmission. Shu’bah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: So-and-so says, Hakam bin ‘Utaybah (may Allah have mercy on him) did not narrate this narration as marfu‘. Someone said to Shu’bah (may Allah have mercy on him): Leave aside what so-and-so says and narrate to us what you have heard. He replied: Even if I were given the lifespan of Nuh (peace be upon him) in exchange for narrating or not narrating this hadith, I would not be pleased.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever goes to a soothsayer (fortune-teller) and affirms what he says, or has intercourse with his wife in the anus, or has intercourse with his wife during her menstrual period, then he has nothing to do with the religion which was revealed to Muhammad (the Noble, peace and blessings be upon him).
