لا تقبل صلاة بغير طهور
Prayer not accepted without purification
Hadith 65
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: ثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ: جَعَلَ النَّاسُ يُثْنُونَ عَلَى ابْنِ عَامِرٍ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَمَا إِنِّي لَسْتُ بِأَغَشِّهِمْ لَكَ وَلَكِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَقْبَلُ صَلَاةً بِغَيْرِ طَهُورٍ وَلَا صَدَقَةً مِنْ غُلُولٍ».
Mus'ab bin Sa'd (may Allah have mercy on him) says that at the time of Ibn 'Amir's (the governor of Basra) death, people began to praise him, so Sayyiduna 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I do not want to make you dislike him, but I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Allah does not accept prayer without ablution, nor does He accept charity from unlawful wealth.
Hadith 66
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ بْنُ هَمَّامٍ، قَالَ: أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ، قَالَ: هَذَا مَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تُقْبَلُ صَلَاةُ أَحَدِكُمْ إِذَا أَحْدَثَ حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ».
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prayer of a person without ablution is not accepted until he performs ablution (again).
